Free Street Network for Auckland and other cities around the word. The data can be used for routing and catchment analysis in ArcGIS.

Uses OSM to find the best route between two locations and the results can be exported in GPX format. The GPX file can later be converted into GIS or Illustrator.


Mapnificent shows you the area you can reach with public transport from any point in a given time. It is available for major cities in the US and world wide. unfortunately they have removed the export to KMZ functionality in the latest version.


Uses OSM for a visualization of Auckland’s 1-km walking catchments around busway, train, and ferry stations in Auckand and provides some stats for each catchment.

General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS)

This is a common format for public transportation schedules and associated geographic information. GTFS “feeds” allow public transit agencies to publish their transit data and developers to write applications that consume that data in an interoperable way.

GTFS explorer

GTFS Explorer is a web application designed to analyze and visualize public transport data in the form of General Transit Feed Specification (GTFS) files. Its intended audience is transport analysts. Unfortunately the demo version is only for Cairns City in Australia. The subscribed version includes all major Australian cities and Auckland.

Affordability in New Zealand

The website includes transport cost to calculate the housing affordability in Auckland. The background data are from Census, GTFS, and OSM.
